Effective September 2026. The short version: Simple Ads reads your products, keeps an encrypted key to your own Meta account, and never touches your customers.
What Simple Ads reads from your store
Simple Ads requests a single Shopify scope: read_products. It reads product titles, descriptions, images, types, vendors, tags and prices so it can build ad creative from them, and it reads your store's domain and name so the ads it builds point at the right storefront.
It does not request, read or store your orders, your customers, or any customer personal data.
What Simple Ads stores
Your Meta connection: an OAuth access token, and the IDs of the Business Manager, ad account, Facebook Page, Instagram account and pixel you selected. The access token is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and is used only to call Meta's Marketing API on your behalf.
Your campaigns: the Meta object IDs Simple Ads created for you (campaign, ad set, ad creative, ad), the settings you chose, and the performance figures Meta reports back — spend, revenue, ROAS, clicks, impressions and purchases — cached so the dashboard can render without re-querying Meta on every page load.
Your subscription: which plan you are on, so the app knows what to unlock. Payment details are handled entirely by Shopify; Simple Ads never sees a card number.
Where your ad spend goes
Nowhere near us. Campaigns are deployed into your own Meta ad account, and Meta bills the payment method on that account directly. Simple Ads never holds, moves or takes a percentage of your advertising budget.
AI processing
Ad copy and interest suggestions are generated by a large language model running on Cloudflare Workers AI. The prompt contains the product information described above — title, description, type, price. It does not contain customer data, because the app never has any.
Third parties
Shopify — authentication, billing and the product catalogue. Meta — everything to do with your ads. Cloudflare — AI inference. Microsoft Clarity — anonymised usage analytics inside the app, so we can see where merchants get stuck. Crisp — live support chat on this website and inside the app. Crisp receives the page you are visiting, stores a chat-session identifier in your browser, and receives only the contact details or messages you choose to enter. No data is sold to anyone, ever.
Uninstalling
When you uninstall Simple Ads, Shopify sends an app/uninstalled webhook and your stored session is removed. Campaigns already deployed keep running in your Meta ad account — they are yours, and the app has no way to pause them once it has been removed. To stop them, pause them in Ads Manager.
To request deletion of the rest of your stored data, email support@liftapps.studio. Shopify's own customer-data and shop-redaction webhooks are implemented and honoured.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who it is shared with, the effective date above changes with it.
